Our membership is relatively stable and vacancies are rare. But we have a few units of varying sizes that will become available in the next year. Therefore we have taken the decision to open our membership to new applicants for a short period of time.
Who should apply
• An applicant for membership should normally be resident in or have a strong. connection with the London Borough of Hackney. Exceptions may be made in cases where a nomination or referral is made of a person living outside the Borough on the grounds of housing or mobility needs.
• An applicant must be in housing need as defined by the normal factors of
insecurity, overcrowding, disrepair, social or medical factors, generally accepted when assessing housing conditions.
• And above all, an applicant must be willing to take part in the running of the Co-operative’s affairs.
How to apply
The initial part of the applications for membership of Hackney Housing Cooperative will be open for a set period in 2026 (from 15 June to 14 July inclusive). During this time to request an application form, please email or telephone our office. Details may be found on our Contact page. We will not be sending out application form until after the 14th of July.
